A gang sheet is one 22-inch-wide strip of DTF film that holds as many designs as you can fit. You pay by the length of the sheet, not by the number of designs. That means every empty inch is money left on the table. Here's how to pack your sheet like a pro.
1. Decide your sizes before you build
Know the final print size of each design before you start. Common sizes:
- Adult full front: 10 to 12 inches wide
- Youth full front: 8 to 9 inches wide
- Left chest or pocket: 3 to 4 inches wide
- Sleeve: 2.5 to 3.5 inches wide
- Hat front: 2 to 4 inches wide
Check our DTF size guide for 2XL, kids and other garments.
2. Start with the big designs
Place your largest prints first, then fill around them. Big designs set the length of your sheet, and small ones fill the gaps.
3. Rotate to fit
A tall design and a wide design rarely fit side by side, but rotate one 90 degrees and they often do. The builder lets you rotate any design. Turning prints sideways is the easiest way to save inches.
4. Nest the small stuff
Pocket logos, sleeve prints and hat designs fit in the gaps around larger prints. If you'll need them later anyway, add them now. They cost almost nothing when they fill space that's already paid for.
5. Keep spacing tight but safe
Leave about a quarter inch between designs so you have room to cut them apart cleanly. More than that is wasted film. Less makes trimming hard.
6. Let auto-build do the heavy lifting
Our Gang Sheet Builder has an auto-build option that arranges your designs to use the least film. Run it, then fine-tune by hand if you want a specific design grouped with another.
7. Prep your files right
- Use PNG files with transparent backgrounds so there are no hidden white boxes taking up space.
- Trim extra empty space around each design before uploading.
- Use 300 DPI at the final print size so nothing prints soft.
Our free background remover and upscaler, built into the uploader, can fix most files in a click.
8. Pick the right length
Sheets run from 12 inches up to 360 inches. Larger sheets bring your cost per inch down, so if you're close to the next size up, it's often worth adding a few extra designs for future orders.
Quick check before you order: big designs placed first, smaller ones rotated into the gaps, quarter-inch spacing, transparent backgrounds, and no empty strip at the bottom of the sheet.
